Using a ridge-to-valley approach, they built percolation tanks, farm ponds, staggered trenches and rooftop rainwater harvesting, and revived community ponds. Murugummi built 71 structures with about 8.11 lakh cubic metres of storage, irrigating 264.5 hectares; Marella built 53 structures with about 10.04 lakh cubic metres; and Thangella built 71 structures with about 5.89 lakh cubic metres. Murugummi won the Second-Best Village Panchayat award at the 6th National Water Awards, 2024, and Marella was among the top 30 villages.
