The Indian Navy's INS Sahyadri, an indigenously built Shivalik-class guided missile stealth frigate, took part in the sea phase of the Japan India Maritime Exercise (JAIMEX-25) from 16 to 18 October 2025. It then made a port call at Yokosuka, Japan, on 21 October 2025 for the harbour phase. Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) ships Asahi and Oumi and submarine Jinryu joined the sea phase, which included advanced anti-submarine warfare and missile defence drills, flying operations and underway replenishment. The harbour phase covers cross-deck visits, joint operational planning and a combined Yoga session. INS Sahyadri was commissioned in 2012.
