IWAI and Delhi government agencies sign MoU for cruise tourism on the Yamuna between Sonia Vihar and Jagatpur
The Inland Waterways Authority of India signed an MoU with Delhi government agencies on 11 March 2025 to develop cruise tourism on a 4-km stretch of the Yamuna (National Waterway-110) between Sonia Vihar and Jagatpur.

The Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Delhi government's Irrigation and Flood Control Department, the Delhi Development Authority, the Delhi Jal Board and the Delhi Transport Corporation at Asita Park in Delhi on 11 March 2025. The aim is to develop cruise tourism on a four-kilometre stretch of the Yamuna (National Waterway-110) between Sonia Vihar and Jagatpur, upstream of the Wazirabad Barrage. Electric-solar hybrid boats carrying 20–30 passengers each, with bio-toilets and life jackets, will be used, and IWAI will install two HDPE jetties. The signing was attended by Lt Governor V K Saxena, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Union Ports, Shipping and Waterways Minister Sarbananda Sonowal. NW-110 runs 1,089 km from Jagatpur to the Yamuna's confluence with the Ganga at Prayagraj, across Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.
