ISLRTC holds International Symposium on Interpreter Education and Research at JNU

Experts from the USA and Canada shared practices in sign language interpreting.

Summary

The Indian Sign Language Research and Training Centre (ISLRTC), with the Linguistic Empowerment Cell of Jawaharlal Nehru University, organised an International Symposium on 'Interpreter Education and Research: Perspectives from the United States, Canada, and India' at JNU, New Delhi, on 12 January 2025. Guest lecturers were Dr Brenda Nicodemus, Professor Emerita at Gallaudet University, USA, and Dr Marty Taylor, a sign language interpretation expert from Canada. About 370 people attended in person and 110 students and faculty joined virtually.
