Point Nemo (48°53′S 123°24′W) is the Oceanic Pole of Inaccessibility, about 2,688 km from the nearest land, and the crew collected water samples there for the National Institute of Oceanography. INSV Tarini was flagged off from Goa on 2 October 2024 by Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, as the two officers seek to become India's first double-handed circumnavigators.
