On 2 October 2025, the Indian Navy's indigenous stealth frigate INS Sahyadri arrived at Kemaman port in Malaysia for a three-day visit, as part of the Eastern Fleet's operational deployment to the South China Sea and Indo-Pacific. Commissioned in 2012, Sahyadri is the third ship of the Shivalik-class guided-missile stealth frigates. This was its third visit to Malaysia, after Port Klang in 2016 and Exercise Samudra Laksamana at Kota Kinabalu in 2019. The visit included calls on Royal Malaysian Navy officers, cross-training, sports and a yoga session. The Navy linked the visit to India's MAHASAGAR initiative and Malaysia's alignment with the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific (AOIP).
