Indian Navy diving support vessel INS Nistar made its maiden port call at Changi Naval Base, Singapore on 14 September 2025 to take part in the multinational Exercise Pacific Reach 2025 (XPR 25), which began on 15 September 2025. INS Nistar, commissioned on 18 July 2025, is indigenously designed and built with more than 80% indigenisation. The ship serves as the mothership for India's Deep Submergence Rescue Vehicle (DSRV), and Submarine Rescue Unit (East) was to operate from it during the biennial submarine rescue exercise in the South China Sea. India inducted two DSRVs in 2018-19, one for each seaboard, capable of rescue operations up to 650 metres deep.
