INS Malvan, the second of the indigenously designed and built Mahe-class Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW-SWC), was commissioned into the Indian Navy at Karwar on 22 July 2026 in a ceremony presided over by Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal A. P. Singh.

INS Malvan is the second of eight ASW-SWCs being built by Cochin Shipyard Limited, Kochi, and the sixth of 16 ASW-SWCs to be commissioned, with over 80% indigenous content. INS Malvan is equipped for underwater surveillance, anti-submarine warfare, low-intensity maritime operations and mine warfare. The ship is named after the coastal town of Malvan in Maharashtra, linked to the maritime heritage of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, and carries forward the legacy of an inshore minesweeper of the same name that served until 2003. INS Malvan's crest shows the 'Bagh Nakha' (tiger's claw) and its motto is 'Silent Claws'.
