INS Abhay and fast attack craft INFAC T-82 decommissioned at Naval Dockyard, Mumbai

On 6 October 2025 at Naval Dockyard, Mumbai, the Indian Navy decommissioned INS Abhay, a Soviet Pauk II class anti-submarine corvette, and INFAC T-82, an Israeli Super Dvora Mk II class fast attack craft, after more than three decades of service.

Summary

On 6 October 2025 at Naval Dockyard, Mumbai, Indian Naval Ship Abhay and Indian Naval Fast Attack Craft (INFAC) T-82 were decommissioned in a combined sunset ceremony presided over by Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command (PIB, 7 October 2025). INS Abhay, an anti-submarine corvette of the Soviet Pauk II class, was commissioned at Poti, Georgia, in the erstwhile USSR on 10 March 1989 and carried out anti-submarine patrols and coastal defence operations. INFAC T-82, an Israeli Super Dvora Mk II class craft with the motto 'Stealth and Strike', was commissioned on 9 October 2003 at Naval Dockyard, Mumbai, and served as a frequent first responder for search and rescue, submarine escort and coastal interdiction. The National Flag, Naval Ensign and decommissioning pennants were lowered for the last time on both ships.
