On 11 November 2024 in Colombo, Sri Lanka, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) and Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) held their 7th Annual High Level Meeting. A four-member ICG delegation was led by Director General S Paramesh, and the SLCG delegation by Director General Rear Admiral Y R Serasinghe. Issues discussed included drug trafficking, marine pollution and safety of mariners. The annual meeting follows the mechanism set out in an MoU signed between the two agencies in May 2018, and the 8th edition will be hosted by the ICG in 2025.
