Indian Railways manufactured a record 7,134 coaches in FY 2024-25, 9% more than the 6,541 of the previous year, with the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai rolling out 3,007, the Railway Ministry said on 3 April 2025.

Of these, 4,601 were non-AC coaches. The Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai, rolled out a record 3,007 coaches, 178 more than in 2023-24; the Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala, produced 2,102 and the Modern Coach Factory, Rae Bareli, 2,025. Between 2014 and 2024, Indian Railways made 54,809 coaches, an average of 5,481 a year, against an average of less than 3,300 a year between 2004 and 2014.
