Railways rationalises fares from 26 December 2025; no rise for suburban, season tickets

Indian Railways announced on 25 December 2025 a rationalisation of passenger fares effective from 26 December 2025. Fares for suburban services and season tickets are unchanged; in Second Class Ordinary there is no increase for journeys up to 215 km and a stepped rise of ₹5 to ₹20 beyond that; Sleeper and First Class Ordinary rise by 1 paise per km; and Mail/Express fares in both AC and non-AC classes rise by 2 paise per km. Reservation fees, superfast charges and GST rules are unchanged, and the revised fares apply only to tickets booked on or after 26 December 2025.
