Indian Railways said on 22 November 2025 that its cumulative freight loading in FY 2025-26 had crossed the 1-billion-tonne mark, reaching 1,020 million tonnes (MT) as of 19 November.

Indian Railways' freight milestone was led by coal at 505 MT, followed by iron ore (115 MT), cement (92 MT), container traffic (59 MT) and pig iron and finished steel (47 MT).
