On 17 May 2026 the Indian Navy inaugurated its Naval Sailing Node at Upper Lake, known as Bhojtal, in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, in a ceremony presided over by Chief of the Naval Staff Adm Dinesh K Tripathi.

The Indian Navy inaugurated its premier Naval Sailing Node at Upper Lake, widely known as Bhojtal, in Bhopal on 17 May 2026. Chief of the Naval Staff Adm Dinesh K Tripathi presided over the ceremony. More than 30 naval personnel from INWTC Visakhapatnam and the Navy's rowing, kayaking and canoeing teams staged a sail parade and water-sport displays. At present 17 of the 34 members of the Navy Sailing Team belong to Madhya Pradesh, and the facility aims to draw more youth of the state into competitive water sports and the Defence Forces.
