The Indian Navy announced on 8 July 2025 that it had signed a contract with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), Bengaluru, to implement the National Maritime Domain Awareness (NMDA) Project for maritime and coastal security. The project will upgrade the existing National Command, Control, Communication and Intelligence (NC3I) Network to an NMDA Network with AI-enabled software, and the Information Management and Analysis Centre (IMAC) at Gurugram, the nodal centre of NC3I, will become a Multi-Agency NMDA Centre hosting representatives of national agencies. The project will be executed on a turnkey basis and administered by the Navy.
