The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) began construction of its first indigenously built Air Cushion Vehicle (hovercraft) with a girder-laying and commencement-of-erection ceremony at Chowgule & Company Pvt. Ltd. in Goa on 30 July 2025. The hovercraft are based on Griffon Hoverwork designs and are being built for patrolling, interdiction and search and rescue in shallow coastal waters. The Ministry of Defence signed the contract for six ACVs on 24 October 2024.
