India and UK sign Statement of Intent on electric propulsion for Indian Navy ships

On 28 November 2024 in Portsmouth, UK, the Ministries of Defence of India and the United Kingdom signed a Statement of Intent (SoI) on Cooperation on Design and Development of Electric Propulsion Systems for the Indian Navy. It was signed during the third Joint Working Group meeting of the Electric Propulsion Capability Partnership. The SoI is a broad framework for co-design, co-creation and co-production of electric propulsion for future naval ships. The Landing Platform Docks planned to be built at an Indian shipyard are envisaged to have a Full Electric Propulsion System. It was signed by Joint Secretary (Naval Systems) Rajeev Prakash and Rear Admiral Steve McCarthy of the UK MoD.
