India to host the 1st International Big Cat Summit in New Delhi on 1–2 June 2026

On 11 May 2026 Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav said India will host the 1st International Big Cat Summit on 1–2 June in New Delhi and urged industry to fund big-cat conservation through the International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA).

He said the International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA), an initiative of PM Narendra Modi, works to protect the world's seven big cats: tiger, lion, cheetah, leopard, snow leopard, jaguar and puma. Yadav urged corporate funding for habitat restoration, technology-driven monitoring, community-based conservation and awareness, calling big cats apex predators and umbrella species. He noted that CII already has an MoU with IBCA.
