India and Tanzania held the fourth Joint Defence Cooperation Committee (JDCC) meeting in Zanzibar on 2–3 February 2026 and agreed to start cooperation between their Air Forces.

India and Tanzania held the fourth Joint Defence Cooperation Committee (JDCC) meeting in Zanzibar on 2–3 February 2026. They reviewed cooperation in military training, maritime security and defence industry, and explored counter-terrorism, peacekeeping training and capacity building in electronic warfare, cyber and AI. Military medicine was identified as a possible new area. Both sides agreed to start Air Force cooperation, adding to existing Navy and Army ties. Joint Secretary (Defence Cooperation) Amitabh Prasad led India's delegation, and Ibrahim Mhona, Chief of Operations and Training of the Tanzania People's Defence Force, led Tanzania's. Defence ties are guided by a five-year roadmap.
