India–Sri Lanka Joint Statement during President Disanayaka's State Visit

India and Sri Lanka issued a joint statement on 16 December 2024 after PM Narendra Modi met Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Disanayaka in New Delhi.

The India–Sri Lanka Joint Statement 'Fostering Partnerships for a Shared Future' was issued after Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Disanayaka met in New Delhi on 16 December 2024, during the latter's State Visit to India. The leaders agreed to organise focused training of 1,500 Sri Lankan civil servants over five years through India's National Centre for Good Governance. President Disanayaka thanked India for financial assistance of USD 20.66 million to settle payments due for projects completed under existing Lines of Credit. The leaders agreed to take steps to implement the solar power project in Sampur, to support the development of Trincomalee as a regional energy and industrial hub, and to work towards early recommencement of the Rameshwaram–Talaimannar passenger ferry. They also agreed to expedite the Sri Lanka Unique Digital Identity (SLUDI) project.
