The first India-Sri Lanka Joint Working Group (JWG) meeting on agriculture was held at Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi, on 30 October 2025. It was co-chaired by Dr. Devesh Chaturvedi, Secretary of India's Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, and D. P. Wickramasinghe, Secretary of Sri Lanka's Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation. The two sides discussed cooperation in farm mechanisation, organic and natural farming, seeds, soil health, market access, climate-resilient agriculture, digital agriculture and crop insurance. The Sri Lankan delegation also visited the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), Pusa.
