The first session of the India–Rwanda Joint Trade Committee (JTC) was held in New Delhi on 30 and 31 July 2026. Joint Secretary Amit Kumar of the Department of Commerce led India's side, and Director General Virgile Rwanyagatare of Rwanda's foreign ministry led Rwanda's side. The JTC is meant to be a permanent apex mechanism to review bilateral trade, diversify the trade basket and expand investment. India supplies about 24.5% of Rwanda's pharmaceutical imports and was Rwanda's second-largest foreign investor in 2025. India showed interest in Rwanda's tin, tungsten and tantalum, including cooperation between the Geological Survey of India and the Rwanda Mines, Petroleum and Gas Board. Invest India and the Rwanda Development Board were named investment focal points.
