India's renewable energy capacity reaches 288.58 GW

India's installed renewable energy capacity rose from 76.38 GW in 2014 to 288.58 GW as on 30 June 2026, the government told the Rajya Sabha on 21 July 2026.

India's renewable energy installed capacity stood at 288.58 GW as on 30 June 2026, up from 76.38 GW in 2014, Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy Shripad Yesso Naik told the Rajya Sabha. India's renewable capacity comprised solar 162.15 GW, wind 57.44 GW, hydro 57.24 GW and bio power 11.75 GW. Including 8.78 GW of nuclear power, India's total non-fossil electricity capacity was 297.36 GW. The renewable energy sector attracted FDI of about USD 45.72 billion from FY2014 to FY2026, and domestic financial institutions deployed ₹12.32 lakh crore.
