India re-elected to Codex Executive Committee for Asia at CAC48

India was unanimously re-elected to the Executive Committee (CCEXEC) of the Codex Alimentarius Commission for the Asia region at the 48th session of the Commission (CAC48), the Health Ministry said on 18 November 2025.

Summary

India's re-election to the Codex Executive Committee keeps it in the role until the end of CAC50 in 2027. The Indian delegation was led by FSSAI CEO Rajit Punhani. At the session, the Standard for fresh dates was adopted at Step 8 and the Standard for fresh curry leaves was forwarded for adoption — India chaired the working groups for both in the Codex Committee on Fresh Fruits and Vegetables. India also pressed for updated databases on food additives, pesticide residues and contaminants, the use of regional data in standards, and AI tools to make Codex work more efficient.
