The Department of Posts announced on 30 December 2025 that, in line with decisions of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), it will discontinue several outward international letter post services from 1 January 2026. The services ending are the Registered Small Packet service, the outward Small Packet service (including goods sent by Sea, SAL or Air), and Surface and Surface Air Lifted (SAL) letter mail. The Department of Posts said the change addresses limited tracking, longer delivery times and tighter customs and security rules abroad, and registration will continue only for documents.
