India and Kuwait held the inaugural meeting of the India–Kuwait Joint Defence Committee (JDC) in New Delhi on 28 August 2026. Joint Secretary Amitabh Prasad and Brigadier General Raed Alsakran of Kuwait co-chaired the meeting. Both sides agreed to deepen cooperation in training, military exercises, military medicine, staff talks, defence industry and R&D. The JDC operationalises the defence cooperation MoU signed during the Prime Minister's visit to Kuwait in December 2024, when ties were upgraded to a Strategic Partnership. India and Kuwait established diplomatic relations in 1962.
