India and the Republic of Korea signed an Exchange of Notes in New Delhi on 20 January 2025 for NCERT's project 'Strengthening Vocational Education and Training in Mechatronics in India', the first KOICA-assisted project in India.
Summary
The Government of India and the Republic of Korea signed the Exchange of Notes for the technical cooperation project 'Strengthening Vocational Education and Training in Mechatronics in India' on 20 January 2025 in New Delhi. The project, to be implemented with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), is the first KOICA-assisted project in India. Manisha Sinha, Additional Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, signed for India and Ambassador Lee Seong-ho for Korea. The two-year project will be implemented by NCERT at the Regional Institute of Education (RIE), Bhopal, preparing curriculum, textbooks, teachers' manuals and equipment to pilot mechatronics education. Korea was designated India's Official Development Assistance (ODA) partner in October 2016, and ties were upgraded to a Special Strategic Partnership in 2015.
