Union Fisheries Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh notified and launched India's first Organic Fisheries Cluster in Soreng district of Sikkim under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) at the North Eastern Region State Meet-2025 in Guwahati, Assam, on 6 January 2025. The organic fisheries cluster will promote fish farming free of antibiotics, chemicals and pesticides, and NABARD is to provide financial and technical assistance. At the same meet, Rajiv Ranjan Singh inaugurated and laid foundation stones for 50 PMMSY projects worth ₹50 crore covering all Northeastern States except Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram.
