The Department of Fisheries held its first capacity-building webinar on 18 September 2025 under a Technical Cooperation Programme (TCP) agreement signed with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations to strengthen Blue Port infrastructure in India. The webinar, addressed by Fisheries Secretary Abhilaksh Likhi, is the first of a series of three webinars and physical workshops. Likhi said smart technologies such as AI and 5G will transform fishing ports. The release noted that smart and integrated fishing harbours worth over ₹369 crore are being developed in Gujarat, Daman & Diu and Puducherry.
