India crosses 100 GW of solar PV module manufacturing capacity under ALMM
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy said on 13 August 2025 that India's solar PV module manufacturing capacity enlisted under the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) has reached 100 GW, up from 2.3 GW in 2014.
Summary
India's solar PV module manufacturing capacity enlisted under the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) reached 100 GW, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy announced on 13 August 2025, up from just 2.3 GW in 2014. Union Minister Pralhad Joshi credited initiatives such as the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for High-Efficiency Solar PV Modules and linked the milestone to the target of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030. The ALMM Order was issued by MNRE on 2 January 2019, and the first ALMM list for solar PV modules, published on 10 March 2021, had an enlisted capacity of around 8.2 GW.
