Index of Eight Core Industries grows 2.0% in July 2025

The combined Index of Eight Core Industries rose 2.0 per cent (provisional) in July 2025 over July 2024, according to data released on 20 August 2025.

The combined Index of Eight Core Industries (ICI) increased by 2.0 per cent (provisional) in July 2025 compared with July 2024, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry said on 20 August 2025. Steel, cement, fertilizer and electricity recorded positive growth, while coal production fell 12.3 per cent. The eight core industries make up 40.27 per cent of the weight of items in the Index of Industrial Production, and cumulative growth for April–July 2025-26 was 1.6 per cent.
