India's Index of Industrial Production grew 4.1% year-on-year in March 2026, as per MoSPI's quick estimate released on 28 April 2026, with mining up 5.5%, manufacturing 4.3% and electricity 0.8%.

Summary

The Index of Industrial Production (IIP) grew 4.1% year-on-year in March 2026, according to the quick estimate released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation on 28 April 2026, compared with 5.2% (quick estimate) in February 2026. Mining grew 5.5%, manufacturing 4.3% and electricity 0.8%, and the index stood at 173.2 against 166.3 in March 2025 (base 2011–12=100). Within manufacturing, 14 of 23 industry groups grew, led by basic metals (8.6%), motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (18.1%) and machinery and equipment (11.2%).
