Industrial output (IIP) grows 5.0% in January 2025, up from 3.2% in December
India's Index of Industrial Production grew 5.0% in January 2025, up from 3.2% in December 2024, as per Quick Estimates released by MoSPI on 12 March 2025.

The Quick Estimate of the Index of Industrial Production (base 2011-12=100) showed growth of 5.0% in January 2025, against 3.2% in December 2024, MoSPI said on 12 March 2025. Mining grew 4.4%, manufacturing 5.5% and electricity 2.4%. Within manufacturing, 19 of 23 industry groups grew; top contributors were basic metals (6.3%), coke and refined petroleum products (8.5%) and electrical equipment (21.7%). By use-based classification, capital goods grew 7.8%, consumer durables 7.2% and infrastructure/construction goods 7.0%, while consumer non-durables contracted 0.2%. The IIP index stood at 161.3.
