Industrial output grows 8.0% in August 2026; manufacturing up 9.0%

The Quick Estimate of the Index of Industrial Production (base 2022-23=100), released by MoSPI on 28 September 2026, shows 8.0% year-on-year growth in August 2026, up from 6.7% in July.

Summary

Manufacturing grew 9.0%, Electricity & Gas Supply 12.3% and Water Supply, Sewerage & Waste Management 6.3%, while Mining & Quarrying contracted 5.6%. The IIP stood at 123.3 against 114.2 in August 2025. MoSPI said manufacturing has grown 8% or more for three consecutive months, a record. The Quick Estimate is released on the 28th of every month and is revised later.
