ICGS Achal, the latest vessel in the new-generation Adamya-class Fast Patrol Vessel series, was commissioned into the Indian Coast Guard at Goa Shipyard Limited on 9 May 2026 by A. Anbarasu, Additional Secretary and Director General (Acquisition), Ministry of Defence. The name Achal means 'firm'. Designed and built indigenously by Goa Shipyard Limited with more than 50% indigenous components, the ship will handle coastal and offshore surveillance, interdiction, search and rescue, anti-smuggling operations and marine pollution response. Inspector General Tekur Sashi Kumar, Commander, Coast Guard Region (North-West), was present.
