The Indian Coast Guard launched two Fast Patrol Vessels, ICGS Ajit and ICGS Aparajit, at Goa Shipyard Limited on 24 October 2025.
Summary
On 24 October 2025, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) launched two Fast Patrol Vessels (FPVs), ICGS Ajit and ICGS Aparajit, at Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL). They are the seventh and eighth of eight indigenous FPVs that GSL is building for the ICG. Each is 52 metres long and displaces 320 tonnes. They are fitted with Controllable Pitch Propellers, the first in this class in India, for better manoeuvrability. They can carry out fisheries protection, coastal patrol and anti-smuggling, anti-piracy and search-and-rescue missions. Smt. Manju Sharma launched the vessels in the presence of Financial Advisor (Defence Services) Dr. Mayank Sharma.
