The International Buddhist Confederation (IBC), in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, organised a two-day International Conclave on Buddha Dhamma and the Culture of North-East India at Namsai, Arunachal Pradesh. Over 300 participants, including heads of Sanghas, monks, nuns, academics and representatives from Bhutan, Myanmar and Cambodia, took part. Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein made a case for a Buddhist tourism circuit in the state and referred to the Songpa Water Festival, a Buddhist festival celebrated by the Khamti community.
