The Union Ministry of Information & Broadcasting signed an MoU with the Government of Maharashtra on 11 April 2025 to set up the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT) in Mumbai, a national centre of excellence for the Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics and Extended Reality (AVGC-XR) sector. The institute will be located at Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari (Film City), Goregaon.
