Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff (HQ IDS) and the Department of Science and Technology (DST) signed an MoU in New Delhi on 21 March 2025 to strengthen collaboration in defence research and development. It was signed by Vice Admiral Sanjay Vatsayan, Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff, and DST Additional Secretary Sunil Kumar, in the presence of Chief of Integrated Defence Staff Lt Gen JP Mathew and DST Secretary Abhay Karandikar. Under the MoU, DST will give the armed forces access to its research infrastructure, expertise and academic institutions to develop advanced military technologies.
