High-Level Committee approves ₹707.97 crore NDRF aid to Assam and Gujarat for 2024 floods; ₹903.67 crore for fire services in three states

Summary
On 7 October 2025 a High-Level Committee (HLC) chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah approved ₹707.97 crore of additional central assistance from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) to Assam (₹313.69 crore) and Gujarat (₹394.28 crore), affected by floods and landslides in 2024, subject to adjustment of 50% of the opening balance in their State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF). It also approved ₹903.67 crore under the NDRF for expansion and modernisation of fire services — Haryana ₹117.19 crore, Madhya Pradesh ₹397.54 crore and Rajasthan ₹388.94 crore — of which ₹676.33 crore is central assistance. In 2025-26 the Centre has released ₹13,603.20 crore to 27 states under the SDRF and ₹2,024.04 crore to 12 states under the NDRF, besides ₹4,571.30 crore from the State Disaster Mitigation Fund to 21 states and ₹372.09 crore from the National Disaster Mitigation Fund to 9 states.
