The Haryana Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini approved the Haryana Municipal Bill, 2025 in Chandigarh on 8 December 2025. The Haryana Municipal Bill will replace the Haryana Municipal Act, 1973 and the Haryana Municipal Corporation Act, 1994, bringing municipal corporations, councils and committees under one legal framework; at present 87 municipalities work under the two separate laws. The bill draws on the Centre's Model Municipal Law and lets municipalities fix taxes and fees between minimum and maximum rates set by the government.
