Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri spoke at the commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the Air India Flight 182 (Kanishka) bombing at Ahakista, Cork, Ireland on 23 June 2025. On 23 June 1985 the aircraft was destroyed mid-air by a bomb planted by Canada-based terrorists, killing all 329 on board, including over 80 children. Puri called for collective global action against terrorism and urged Canada to deepen cooperation through intelligence sharing and disrupting terror financing. Puri thanked the people of Ahakista and the Irish government, and noted India–Ireland trade of nearly USD 16 billion in 2023.
