Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Union Women and Child Development Minister Annapurna Devi jointly launched the Guidelines for Co-location of Anganwadi Centres with Schools on 3 September 2025 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The guidelines, prepared by the Department of School Education & Literacy with the Ministry of Women & Child Development, aim to ensure school preparedness and a smooth transition of children from Anganwadi Centres to Grade 1, and better linkages between Anganwadis and primary schools. They follow the National Education Policy 2020, which recognises Early Childhood Care and Education as the foundation of learning by integrating three years of pre-school into the 5+3+3+4 structure, and lists Anganwadis co-located with primary schools as one mode of delivering ECCE (Para 1.4). Pradhan also said nearly 2 lakh high schools would be connected with broadband within three years.
