Goa Shipyard Ltd (GSL) launched 'Samudra Prachet', the last of two indigenous Pollution Control Vessels (PCVs) for the Indian Coast Guard (ICG), in Goa on 23 July 2025. With 72% indigenous content, the vessel is 114.5 m long and 16.5 m wide, displaces 4,170 tonnes, and will be manned by 14 officers and 115 sailors. Samudra Prachet carries two side-sweeping arms to collect oil while underway and a radar to detect oil slicks, helping the ICG respond to oil spills in the Exclusive Economic Zone. Coast Guard Director General Paramesh Sivamani was Chief Guest. The first PCV was launched on 29 August 2024.
