On 24 October 2024, at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, Panchayati Raj Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh (Lalan Singh), Dr Jitendra Singh and MoS Prof. S.P. Singh Baghel launched 'Weather Forecasting at the Gram Panchayat Level'. Developed jointly by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj and the India Meteorological Department (Ministry of Earth Sciences), it makes local five-day forecasts and hourly updates available to over 2.5 lakh Gram Panchayats, helping rural communities plan farm work and prepare for weather risks.
