On 14 October 2025, at the Bharat AI Shakti event in New Delhi, Google announced an Artificial Intelligence Hub in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, with an investment of about US$ 15 billion over five years (2026–2030), its largest in India to date. The hub will include a gigawatt-scale data centre campus, developed with partners including AdaniConnex and Airtel; Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu called it India's first truly gigawatt-scale data centre and Google's first AI Hub in India. It also includes a new international subsea gateway with multiple cables landing at Visakhapatnam, adding route diversity to landings near Mumbai and Chennai. MoS Pemmasani Chandrasekhar said the project would create 5,000–6,000 direct jobs and generate about ₹10,000 crore in revenue for the state. IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw proposed a Vizag–Sittwe (Myanmar) digital link for the North-East.
