Government e Marketplace (GeM), India's largest e-marketplace for public procurement, facilitated insurance of more than 1.3 crore individuals under health, life and personal accident policies in 2024-25, besides the hiring of 1 million manpower resources, the Ministry of Commerce & Industry said on 16 April 2025. The Insurance Services category was introduced on GeM in January 2022, and only IRDAI-approved providers are onboarded. Buyer organisations can procure Group Mediclaim, Personal Accident and Term Insurance directly from insurers without intermediaries. GeM CEO Ajay Bhadoo called the milestone a sign of government organisations' growing confidence in the platform.
