The Global Cement and Concrete Association (GCCA) India–NCB report on 'Carbon Uptake by Concrete' was released at the 63rd Foundation Day of the National Council for Cement and Building Materials (NCB) on 26 December 2025. The report assesses CO₂ absorbed by concrete through carbonation in Indian conditions, uses the Tier-I methodology of the IVL Swedish Environment Research Institute, and notes that cement contributes about 7% of total man-made emissions. The report will be submitted to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change for considering carbon uptake as a sink in India's National Communications (NATCOM) to the UNFCCC. NCB, under DPIIT, also opened a Gypsum Board Testing Laboratory and a Micro-Characterisation Laboratory.
