Dr Subhash C. Kashyap, former Secretary-General of the Lok Sabha and constitutional expert, died at his Sainik Farm residence in New Delhi on 4 June 2026 after a prolonged illness. He was 97. Kashyap served as Secretary-General of the Lok Sabha from 1983 to 1990, covering the seventh, eighth and ninth Lok Sabhas, served Parliament for over 37 years and wrote more than 100 books. The Prime Minister and the Vice President condoled his death.
