On 1 November 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted the people of Haryana and Chhattisgarh on their State Foundation Days. Under the Punjab Reorganisation Act, 1966, whose appointed day was 1 November 1966, the State of Haryana was formed from territories of the existing State of Punjab. On the same day the Act also created the Union territory of Chandigarh and transferred some Punjab territory to Himachal Pradesh. Chhattisgarh was created on 1 November 2000.
